46 46 IEN / FEB '16 IEN / FEB '16 www.ien.com editor's note F or nearly the last decade I've been very fortunate to call the industrial sector my professional home. Of course, when I say this to others I don't always get the most positive of responses. Sometimes it's more of a consolatory non-verbal understanding or wide eyed acknowledgement of the assumed diff culties that must accompany an allegiance with U.S. manufacturing. I'm used to experiencing these responses and I've learned to pause for a second before gushing with 'Did-You-Knows' about the "plight" of our marketplace. You see, I'm excited to share facts like the industrial sector being the single largest contributor to the U.S. GDP, and that if U.S. manufacturing were its own economy, it would be the 8th largest in the world. I get kind of f red up thinking about a sector that has grown by over $350 billion in the last three years. And I'm proud to be associated with an industry that generates $1.33 for every $1 invested – the highest multiplier rate of any U.S. market sector. So not only am I excited to continue serving the industrial marketplace, but I get to continue on this path with a collection of amazing colleagues like David Mantey and Anna Wells. These are editors that you know, trust and can rely upon to make IEN better with each print issue, each e-newsletter deployment and every fresh post at the newly revamped www.ien.com. You can check out the site every day for the latest products, news, reports and technical analysis with the product-centric and solution-based content you need. The industrial marketplace enters 2016 facing a number of uncertainties brought about by a combination of strategic, economic and political factors that will undoubtedly impact production, sourcing and product development. This puts an even greater focus on the need for in-depth information on new technologies and products that can help you keep pace and compete in an increasingly global marketplace. IEN has been a trusted source for announcing and promoting new products and technologies in the industrial sector since 1933. Just as we're proud to continue in the hardworking traditions of the market we serve, we'll continue to provide the most expansive coverage by leveraging all the media platforms that you f nd the most engaging. This includes videos (like IEN Now), live roundtable discussions, social media posts, technical reports and exclusive contributions from our network of industry experts. In print, on the site and via video and social media, IEN will continue to support your journey towards greater eff ciency and prof tability. We're excited to continue being a part of your industry and exploring all the opportunities it offers together. — Jeff Reinke Anna Wells David Mantey Jeff Reinke
