Features include: • Up to 5 µm in resolution and repeat accuracy. • A simple design with just two parts: a tubular stain- less steel shaft, and a non-contact forcer. • Simple installation and confi guration. • No variation in the force (no lubrication, and a non-critical air gap). • A non-magnetic aluminum housing. • A built-in encoder (read below). • A built-in interpolator. • Hall sensors. • Real-time single processing and high dynamics with no residual force. • A max speed of 4 meters per second. Nippon Pulse worked with Siko Products to create a design that integrates the industry's fi rst non-analog magnetic linear encoder into a linear motor. The SL083 simplifi es the integration of a linear motor into applications, as it can utilize existing bearings in order to become an actuator. Siko's true encoder allows the SL083 to provide a smooth sinusoidal motion profi le. www.nipponpulse.com; 540-633-1677 The expanding line of PEM ReelFast surface mount fasteners from PennEngineering (Danboro, PA) offers a variety of reliable attachment solutions for printed circuit board applications. Depending on type, the fasteners can be specifi ed to mount, stack or space boards; attach components to boards; create right-angle attachment points on boards; or enable repeated access without requir- ing loose screws. All types are supplied on tape and reel compatible with existing SMT automated installation equipment and install permanently where designed in the same manner and at the same time as other surface mount components prior to the automated refl ow solder process. Where necessary, a polyimide patch affi xed to the end of the fasteners allows for vacuum pickup. Production benefi ts include avoiding potential board dam- age and scrap due to improper secondary installation operations by off-line equipment, minimizing the need to handle hardware and promoting faster assembly. www.pemnet.com; 800-237-4736 WAGO (Germantown, WI) is extending its line of analog input I/O to include compact, highly accu- rate modules. At 12 mm wide these controllers offer capabilities that include: • 8 channels. • Confi gurability by channel. • On-board diagnostic alarms. • Availability in three variants that read thermo- couple, analog current and analog voltage in- put. www.wago.us; 800-DIN-RAIL Yokogawa Electric Corporation (Newnan, GA) announces that it has released an enhanced version of the ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system (SIS). This new version, R4.01, fea- tures an expansion of Yokogawa's lineup of I/O devices and introduces crucial new SIS compo- nents. In addition, the FieldMate Validator soft- ware has been enhanced to work with this latest version of ProSafe-RS. In the oil, natural gas, petrochemical, iron & steel and other energy and basic materials industries, accident prevention and protection of the environment are paramount concerns in plant operations. Accordingly, there is a growing demand for SISs that can detect ab- normal conditions and safely initiate emergency shutdowns. With R4.01, plant operators can also be assured of an optimum engineering environ- ment that spans the entire plant lifecycle, from plant design and the engineering and installation of systems and devices to the start-up of production, maintenance and renovation. www.yokogawa.com In a continuing effort to expand the Optimax product line, PHD (Fort Wayne, IN) is pleased to release a new drop-in compact cylinder. Series OCQ Pneumatic Compact Cylinders feature a compact design for applications where cylinder length is critical, and benefi ts include: • Drop-in metric mounting that matches global standard. • Ten bore sizes available in incre- mental stroke lengths. • Standard shock pads to reduce end of travel impact. • Standard magnets for switch sensing capability. • Cylinder mounting accessories available as kits. When built-to-order actuators are beyond the scope of your manufacturing needs, PHD Optimax provides prefabricated solutions that are economical and effi cient, allowing you to integrate reliable components that get the job done. According to PHD, these products meet machine builders' stringent performance requirements. www.phdinc.com; 800-624-8511
